Eighteen Years of Art Fun!
Art Zone, now in its eighteenth year, is a Fine Arts program created by dedicated parents of St. Viator School children. The sole focus is to provide our children with hands-on, fine art education.

Volunteers
Each month parent volunteers teach the culture, history, techniques and tools used by various artists. Pre-school through eighth grade children then complete a similar art project, typically accompanied with music of the period. Occasionally the faculty joins in to complete a project of their own, much to the delight of the students.

VOLUNTEER FORM

Every Child is an Artist
The projects expose the children to styles, tools and techniques not easily experienced at home. The program varies monthly and spans two and three dimensional assignments. The various mediums selected allow each student to succeed not just the "talented ones who can draw." The resulting experience reinforces that every child is an artist.

Art Show
At the end of the school year each child selects three of their pieces to hang in the all school Art Show. Each student titles their work; volunteers mount and hang the pieces; and a program locating the art is printed for distribution at the Show. Art Zone volunteers host a delicious reception of home baked goodies for all to share after touring the Show.

Benefits
The program has many benefits. For each child, the sense of accomplishment is immediate and lends to greater self esteem. One of the less visible and most significant benefits is that the Art Zone program builds important partnerships between our parent, student, and faculty communities. Art Zone has enriched the educational experience at St. Viator in a myriad of ways.
