The Student Council at St. Viator enables the sharing of student ideas, interests and concerns with teachers and administration.   It also promotes school pride, develops teamwork and leadership skills, and it develops a sense of pride in and commitment to the school, parish and Old Irving Park community.  All interested students in grades 4-8 are eligible to join Student Council, which then elects its officers.  Student Council members can choose to serve on 3 committees: service, fundraising and spirit.

Student Council helps to raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events and community service projects.   In the past, Student Council activities have included Christmas caroling for the Hands to Help Ministry, making cards for Operation Write Home, a Go Green day to recognize Earth Day and a Sports Day in March to celebrate March Madness.   In addition, Student Council has sponsored school-wide coloring contests, costume contests and has helped younger students with crafts during various holiday events and celebrations.

Student Council provides our students an opportunity to practice democracy, develop an appreciation for service, and gain confidence and leadership skills.
